Suspensions for Defenders, Jeeps and other off-road vehicles
Depending on driving style, comfort requirements, load and the associated weight, many 4x4 fans want to customize their suspension to their own requirements. Thanks to customized suspension, you can ensure that your vehicle always has a safe road holding, is well damped and neither springs nor shock absorbers are overstressed.
Optimize the suspension's ability to shift
For greater stability and safe off-road progress, it is essential to keep all wheels permanently on the ground. However, especially on uneven terrain, the articulation capability of the factory-fitted suspension is not always sufficient. The suspension systems we offer ensure that your wheels remain in contact with the ground for as long as possible - even on difficult terrain! This means you can get the most out of your four-wheel drive, have safe propulsion and don't get stuck.
Raising or lowering off-road vehicles
Raising your off-roader gives you greater ground clearance, which means less risk of contact in rough terrain and generally more freedom to manoeuvre. In order to prevent the risk of bottoming out, it is advisable to use lift suspension kits and longer shock absorbers to increase the distance between the vehicle underbody and the ground. In this way, even larger obstacles can be overcome without risking damage to the off-roader.
If, on the other hand, you are travelling less on uneven terrain but want better driving dynamics and, in some cases, increased driving comfort in road traffic, you should lower your off-road vehicle. For particularly safe handling, it is advisable to lower the centre of gravity with the help of lowering kits. And if, for example, your Defender lacks the crucial centimetres in the garage, lowering helps so that your off-road vehicle still fits in.
RTC: Return to Centre steering damper
RTC steering dampers improve off-road driving comfort. They ensure that the vehicle centres itself again after turning, i.e. returns to the straight-ahead position (return to centre). RTC steering dampers with spring support are therefore particularly suitable for driving on slopes and roads with large bumps or for those who drive large wheel/tyre combinations. In the latter case, the restoring torque generated by the factory-set caster is not always sufficient to keep the front wheels in the "straight ahead" position while driving or to move the front wheels back automatically after a bend. The return-to-centre steering dampers we offer impress with their excellent damping effect, so that bumps in the road are transmitted noticeably less to the steering.
Air suspension: more driving dynamics and comfort thanks to air suspension
In addition to classic suspension designs consisting of springs and hydraulic cylinders, air suspension is becoming increasingly popular.
The advantages of VB Air Suspension are manifold! An air suspension provides more dynamics, a constant ride height and a particularly high level of ride comfort. By optimizing road holding, retrofitting air suspension offers greater safety and stability, thus avoiding sloping. For off-road vehicles in particular, which are often subjected to intensive use, it is important that the suspension is adapted to the load and the total weight. Whereas with conventional suspension systems, the suspension struts sink in further with every kilogram, thus reducing driving dynamics, VB Air systems can be individually adapted to the additional load. In addition, the vehicle level can be raised or lowered at the touch of a button - either according to your own wishes or according to pre-settings. The additional ground clearance gained in this way ensures that even rough terrain can be traversed without risking damage to the underbody or chassis.
On request, in addition to customized planning and installation, we can of course also take care of TÜV registration for all suspension systems on offer.
