Defender Clutch Master Cylinder It’s easy to forget these days but driving used to be real work. And you don’t have to go back to the days of double clutching or starter cranks either. Even the Defender got more and more user friendly and less work over the years, with power steering and electric windows making it easier on the arms. But especially with TD5s and older, your left leg still has to work a lot harder with the clutch than the right leg with the gas pedal. In low range off-road, when maneuvering a trailer or even in stop-and-go traffic in the city, the physical effort and strain can become very noticeable, not only for older, smaller or female drivers. Our new POWERmaster cylinder reduces the weight of the clutch pedal by 30 % when compared to the standard Girling master cylinders with OEM part number STC500100. A common problem with the Defender's original clutch is the failure of the insufficiently sized torsion springs. The torsion springs, specially adapted to the Defender Td4, eliminate the familiar problems of clattering or jamming clutches. Another, but less common, problem is the ingress of oil from the engine or transmission into the clutch bell. This oil is absorbed by the porous friction linings and occurs during driving by the resulting frictional heat repeatedly to the friction lining. Due to the reduced traction it comes in the episode to a higher heat development and vitrification of the coverings. The heat is a measure of the converted energy that is no longer available to the drive! The organic coating used in this coupling can not absorb oil and therefore does not vitrify. It convinces with specially adapted friction modifiers with a soft response and enables a 100% adhesion. Of course, the pads are asbestos- and lead-free, free of other toxic heavy metals and heavy metal compounds. A regular lubrication of the sprocket helps, but is in the long run very cumbersome Our solution: The improved intermediate shaft is supplied with the oil of the gearbox and thus prevents the wear of the shafts. Clutch slave cylinder for Defender TD4 You can choose between a clutch slave cylinder for Defender TD4 up to chassis number 8A999999 and a clutch slave cylinder for Defender TD4 from chassis number 9A000001.ATTENTION: Occasionally, different clutch release bearings may have been fitted by previous owners. If you are not sure which clutch slave cylinder you need for your release bearing, please order the other clutch slave cylinder. You can then test both and return the non-fitting part to us within 4 weeks in its original packaging.
