Information on battery disposal

In connection with the sale of batteries or the delivery of devices containing batteries, we are obliged to inform you of the following:

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.

You can either return used batteries that we carry or have carried in our range as new batteries to us at your own expense or return them free of charge to our shipping warehouse (shipping address). Alternatively, you can hand in the batteries at your local collection points. Local collection points can also be found in any shop that sells electrical items.

For safety reasons, the terminals of lithium batteries should be covered with adhesive tape before return.

As an end user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries so that they can be recycled or disposed of properly.

Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel and can be recycled.

By handling batteries correctly, for example by using suitable chargers, avoiding deep discharge or overheating and storing them properly, you can extend their service life. Defective batteries can often be repaired and reused, and end-of-life batteries can be repurposed for other uses or properly reprocessed. This helps to prevent waste, conserve resources and promote sustainability.

The symbols on the batteries have the following meanings:

The symbol of the crossed-out wheelie bin means that the battery must not be disposed of with household waste.

batteriegesetz

For batteries containing a certain amount of lead, cadmium or mercury, the following additions below the symbol with the crossed-out wheelie bin indicate the respective pollutants:

Pb = Battery contains more than 0.004% lead by weight
Cd = Battery contains more than 0.002% cadmium by weight
Hg = Battery contains more than 0.0005% mercury by weight

Information on the costs involved in accordance with Article 56 (4) of the EU Battery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1542) can be found at the “Batterie-Zurück” initiative.

Special features when selling starter batteries

In connection with the sale of starter batteries, we are obliged under Section 19 of the German Battery Act (BattDG) to charge a deposit of €7.50 including VAT per starter battery if you are an end consumer and do not return a used starter battery when purchasing a new starter battery. The deposit is not included in the purchase price and is shown separately from the final price on the item.

If you return a used starter battery to us which we carry or have carried in our range as a new battery in accordance with Section 18 BattDG, we are obliged under the statutory provisions to take it back free of charge and refund the deposit amount.

If we have issued a deposit token in accordance with Section 19 (1) sentence 3 BattDG, the refund of the deposit upon return of the used starter battery is dependent on the return of the deposit token.

The return address is the address listed in the legal notice.

Returning used starter batteries by post is not permitted due to dangerous goods regulations.

Used starter batteries can also be returned free of charge to recycling centres. The deposit we charge is not refunded by public recycling centres. However, you can have the return of the used starter battery confirmed on the deposit token. Upon presentation of the receipted deposit token, we will refund the battery deposit to you. If no deposit token was issued, proof of return from the authorised collection agent is sufficient. In this case, the proof must not be older than two weeks at the time of presentation.

Please observe the above information.

Information pursuant to Section 8 (1) AltölV

In connection with the sale of combustion engine oil or transmission oil and oil filters, we are obliged as a retailer in accordance with the AltölV to inform you of the relevant regulations and obligations.

We would like to point out that used oil, oil filters and oil-containing waste regularly produced during oil changes are hazardous materials that must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

You can return used oil in the quantity of fresh oil purchased from us as well as oil filters and oil-containing waste regularly produced during oil changes free of charge at our point of sale during operating hours or send them to us for free disposal at your own expense in packaging approved for the transport of dangerous goods.

If you have any questions about the environmentally friendly disposal of used oil, we will be happy to help you and, if necessary, advise you on disposal options in your area.

Information on the obligation to take back packaging material

According to current packaging legislation, we are obliged to take back the following packaging materials from end consumers free of charge in accordance with Section 15 (1) Sentence 1 of the German Packaging Act (VerpackG):

  • Transport packaging, such as pallets, large packaging etc.,
  • Sales packaging and secondary packaging which, after use, does not typically arise as waste for private final consumers,
  • Sales packaging and secondary packaging for which system participation is not possible due to system incompatibility pursuant to Section 7 (5), and sales packaging containing harmful substances, or
  • Reusable packaging.

Appropriate packaging material is used for the delivery of the product and we will take this back free of charge. We thus ensure that the packaging material is reintroduced into the recycling stream. By informing you about the return options, we aim to achieve better results in the return of packaging and thus ensure a contribution to the fulfilment of the European recycling targets according to EU Directive 94/62/EC.

As the end consumer, you may return the packaging material at the place where it is actually handed over, or in its immediate vicinity.
