A Defender can do a lot of things, but comfortable seating was never one of its strengths. Because after a few hundred kilometres on the standard seats, first the back complains and then the mood follows. Anyone who spends days behind the wheel on a long trip needs a proper seat, not another gadget.
Seats like that are exactly what scheel-mann has been building since 1966. Back then, racing driver Rolf Scheel developed bucket seats in Stuttgart with a backrest that follows the shape of the spine and holds the driver in place instead of letting him slide around on a flat bench. His seats sat in sports cars like the Alpina 3.0 CSL and the Ford Capri RS.
Since 1988 the brand has belonged to Greiner GmbH, a family business from Pleidelsheim near Stuttgart that dates back to 1922 and still builds every seat there by hand. The orthopedic shape has stayed the same, only the place of work has changed, from the race track to the long haul.
We at Nakatanenga carry the scheel-mann models Sportline, Traveller and Touring as LR Edition for the Defender, with a folding seat base so the battery compartment stays accessible.
