You've got the off-roader. Now for the kit.
So, you've gone and bought yourself an off-roader. A Defender, a Grenadier, maybe a Jimny. Whatever you drive, the vehicle is only half the story. There's a fair bit of kit to sort before you head off on an overland trip.
Make room with the right roof rack
First things first, you'll want boxes or bags to stow your gear in. Which rather assumes you've got somewhere to put them, inside the vehicle or on top of it. Space up top comes from a roof rack, and that's always money well spent. Whether you're after room for a few boxes or a full roof tent. We even build our ultra-low CargoBear roof racks here in Germany. There's one for the Land Rover Defender, the New Defender, the Mercedes G, the Jimny and the Ineos Grenadier, the Quartermaster included.
The CargoBear comes with a whole range of accessories. Awning brackets, for one, or quick-mount rails for roof tents. Then there are mounts for recovery boards, for boxes and for spotlights. There's even a handle, so there's something to grab hold of while you load up.

More storage, on the vehicle and in it
The roof rack isn't the only place to put your load. We've got a few more bits that'll take your gear. The spare wheel tray, for instance, which the Transformer boxes fit onto nicely. Or, for the New Defender, a CargoBear for the boot that gives you a second level inside.
With our MOLLE panels for inside and out, you can also strap down our own bags, or a shovel, with Fixplus Straps or Quickfist mounts. We do the panels for the Suzuki Jimny, the Defender, the New Defender and the Ineos Grenadier, among others.
And your gear, in the end, travels in bags, aluminium boxes, our waterproof off-road transport boxes or the Transformer boxes.
Nakatanenga CargoBear for Ineos Grenadier The launch of the Ineos Grenadier was without a doubt the biggest event for the off-road community since the launch of the new Defender. And since the two are more or less officially competing for the title of best successor to the old Landy, it's a pretty exciting affair. When it comes to the shape of the roof, the new Ineos is hardly distinguishable from the old Defender, including the slope at the front, the side gutters and the mighty roof load of 150 kg (dynamic load) and 420 kg (static). All of that makes it a joy to fit the Grenadier with our CargoBear modular roof rack. The legendary CargoBear is just as ambitious and versatile as the British newcomer with its Bavarian-Austrian technology and old-school look. The CargoBear for the Grenadier (Station Wagon/Utility Wagon) can be ordered in four variations – but thanks to our modular system, subsequent conversions or add-ons are easily done, whenever your specific requirements change. In the simplest, open version, the roof rack consists of three crossbars, a wind deflector at the front and the end carrier at the rear. For closed and therefore fully accessible platforms, the Bear is available in three further versions: As a short roof rack with three crossbars, two closed sections between the bars, a wind deflector and end panel. As a long version with four crossbars, three closed sections between the bars, a wind deflector and end panel. There is also a special version for grenadiers with safari windows in the front roof. Here the rear two sections are fully closed, the front one has two openings on the sides, so as not to obstruct the safari windows. As with the old Landy, the ultra-flat roof rack is simply mounted to the roof gutters by clamping brackets. A hybrid solution specially adapted to the Grenadier provides even more stability: additional U-profiles and support brackets connect the CargoBear to the handles on the roof to take excessive load off the gutters. As always, all aluminum and stainless steel components of the CargoBear are powder-coated in black. This makes them a perfect match for the purist design of the Grenadier. Ineos Grenadier and CargoBear - the ultimate combination for work, sport, camping or expedition! The Trier Fire Brigade also relies on our quality – equipment that meets the highest standards! Maximum transport power: Nakatanenga CargoBear for the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster If you are looking for a truly distinct and exclusive pickup truck, look no further than the Quartermaster from Ineos, with its generous load bed and spacious double cab. To top it off, literally, our custom-made CargoBear roof rack system adds even more functionality to the rugged Grenadier. Our modular rack system transforms this workhorse with its BMW power and Magna Steyr engineering into a true adventurer. The Quartermaster's high roof load capacity of 120 kg dynamic and 375 kg static is ideal for expedition equipment or, for example, our RoofLodge roof tents. The modular rack for the double cab's roof, which is shorter than that of the Station Wagon, is 1.83 m long when fully assembled and consists of three crossbars, two platform components, a wind deflector at the front and an end plate at the rear. The CargoBear’s Quartermaster version fits models with or without safari windows. The ultra-flat roof rack is easily mounted to the roof rails with clamps. A hybrid solution (from the second crossbar) specially adapted to the Grenadier provides even more stability: additional U-profiles and support brackets connect the CargoBear to the handles on the roof surface to relieve the pressure on the rather soft roof rail. As always, all aluminum and stainless steel components on the CargoBear are powder-coated in black. This means they fit perfectly with the purist design of the Grenadier. Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster and CargoBear – the ultimate combination for work, sports, vacations or expeditions! Material: • 3 x crossbars, 2 x platform, wind deflector, and end carrier: powder-coated aluminum (black) • Support brackets and clamping brackets: powder-coated stainless steel (black)

Fastening set for AluBoxes on Nakatanenga CargoBear 1.0 and 2.0 Probably the easiest and safest way to mount an AluBox on CargoBear 1 or 2: Our customised fastening solution consists of 4 brackets that screw the box base firmly to the roof rack from the inside. This not only serves to secure the box for transport, but also prevents it from being quickly stolen on the road when it is locked. Mounting the brackets is child's play. Apart from the tools, everything you need is included. You can download detailed instructions from our web shop, where you will of course also find a large selection of matching aluminium boxes.

Cooking out on the trail
Now for the part that really matters on any overlanding trip: feeding yourself. There's a table and chairs, naturally, and if you'd rather cook your own, a camp kitchen box. Anyone after a bit of shade just rigs up an awning. And if a kitchen box isn't your thing, if you'd sooner keep your kitchen kit in drawers in the 4x4, there are our own cutlery sets, which come in a few sizes. The big one has the lot, everything you need to cook on an off-road trip. The small one does nicely for two, though you might want to add a board and a ladle. Cold drinks and fresh food, by the way, keep longest in a cool box, the kind that's still going strong after days out on the trail.

More of a grill person than a cook? Then our barbecue and fire bowl is the thing to bring. It folds dead flat, so it'll still squeeze in somewhere. And unless you've already got your firewood stashed in our handy spare wheel bag, an axe or a little folding saw earns its place, for making some.
Tool Roll Hungry Mini - now also with WMF chef's knife - FREE! With this additional chef's knife, all common cutting tasks can be carried out effortlessly: The larger chef's knife is ideal for slicing and chopping solid ingredients, while the smaller preparation knife is perfect for finer work. Both knives impress with their long-lasting sharpness and hardened blades made of stainless, acid-resistant special steel, which is also coated. The ergonomically shaped handles fit perfectly in the hand and offer a secure grip. Thanks to the practical protective blade covers, the knives can be stored safely and space-savingly in the cutlery drawer. Tool Roll Hungry Edition, incl. Camping Cutlery The Defender represents English cultural heritage, just like a scrumptious picnic with cucumber sandwiches and Scotch Eggs. At Nakatanenga we thought, that’s not just a very good combination on a country estate in Somerset, but anywhere, really, where the Great Outdoors meets fine dining. And that’s why we’ve equipped our tried and tested Tool Roll with exquisite cutlery: et voilà, the Tool Roll Hungry Edition was born, available in Mini, Maxi and Titan! Instead of the usual camping sets with tin bowls, plastic sporks and aluminium knives, we offer stainless steel cutlery in the Tool Roll Hungry Edition Mini and Maxi as well as high-quality WMF cutting knives with heat-resistant and ergonomically shaped plastic handles. The Mini-set is designed for four people and the Maxi Edition for six, with a chopping board and a four-piece cooking spoon set made from durable bamboo. If you have to watch the weight of your equipment or you’re generally fascinated by great materials, the Tool Roll Hungry Mini Titan is the one for you. Being harder than steel, titanium allows for extremely thin manufacture of cutlery, plates, mugs and so forth while maintaining incredible robustness and durability. As a result, titanium utensils are generally even lighter than their aluminium equivalents, while providing all the health-related and hygienic advantages of stainless steel. The titanium fork and spoon sets can also be purchased separately. Whether you go for stainless steel or titanium, everything fits neatly into the space-saving roll-up bags made of durable nylon. Carrying strap and loops on the underside of the Maxi-Roll expand transport and combination options. And of course, the 12 pocket slots still provide space for other essential items. Can opener, corkscrew or maybe just the lobster tongs? No matter how you roll food-wise, whether it’s hot dogs or Foie Gras for you, the Tool Roll Hungry Edition is an unbeatably practical piece "Home from Home" for campers, off-roaders and foodies. Nylon PU (polyurethanes) is, unlike PVC, free from harmful phthalate-based plasticizers. Low molecular weight phthalates were until recently the most common plasticizers for plastics of all kinds, and are even used in food and cosmetics. However, they accumulate in the environment and are due to their molecular nature suspected of acting as the body's own hormones. This is toxicologically highly questionable and is considered the trigger for various diseases, including cancer. For Nakatanenga, it goes without saying that when it comes to coating textile products, it is only possible to use environmentally friendly and harmless alternatives such as nylon PU.

Nakatanenga demountable barbecue / fire bowl made of carbon steel, including accessories Camp fires are as old as mankind. Maybe that’s why we have such an intense relationship with open flames, glowing embers and – of course – grilled food. Hand on heart, is there anything more satisfying on a camping or weekend trip than sitting around a real fire with family and friends? Our brand new modular fire pit with grill and skewers can be put together and packed away in no time. Plates and stands are made from 4 mm steel. They are uncoated, so that barbecuing food is absolutely safe in our Nakatangenga brazier. Moreover, the lack of paints or coatings will also allow the steel to develop a beautiful patina over time – telling the story of so many good times around the fire! The individual metal elements are precision milled and are simply slotted into each other. Once assembled, the pit’s precision engineering makes sure everything holds tightly together. And since there are neither nuts nor bolts involved, you’ll never lose any small fastening parts as with other assembly kits. The solid short ends of the brazier include the stands and are made from a single sheet of metal each. Two feet on one end and a single one on the other create a firm tripod stand. This makes positioning the fire bowl always safe and easy, even on rough surfaces. If you have soft earth or snow, you can push the stands deep into the ground like a spade, ensuring rock solid stability. The side elements feature aeration holes to guarantee proper oxygenation for your fire or your embers. All around the top of the fire pit, you will find plenty of notches to securely place the grill or the skewers. Last but not least, the kit also features a sturdy pack bag made of high-quality nylon, reinforced with truck tarpaulin – guaranteeing safe and comfortable transport of your disassembled fire pit. The bag’s exterior and the skewer pouch are made from easy-to-clean nylon. As always with our own in-house textile products, we make sure that all straps, buckles and seams are extra-strong. That makes the bag probably as indestructible as the fire pit itself. Enjoy our mobile camp fire! Nakatanenga spare tire backpack If you are occasionally "out at home", be it offroading, survival adventures or expeditions, you know the feeling when dust, dirt and moisture slowly but surely penetrate into the innermost areas: into the sleeping bag, in the spare linen, in the food, in the tool. There, where you just want to have it dry and clean, because otherwise it quickly starts to gnaw on morality. The rule of thumb is therefore, no matter whether backpack, tent or 4x4: dirty things stay together, well packed and especially OUTSIDE. Our Nakatanenga spare tire backpack with about 80 l volume realizes this principle for your 4x4. Firewood, muddy slings, wet clothes or tarpaulins, garbage, game loot and much more are stored outside on the spare tire, on the tailgate or on the roll bar. This ensures that the interior of the car and the rest of the equipment are guaranteed to remain clean. If the additional storage space is no longer needed, the spare tire backpack is quickly cleaned, folded and packed away. The 80 l backpack developed according to US MIL-SPEC is attached non-slip with two straps. It is freely expandable by double-sided MOLLE, e.g. with our first aid kit. Trivia is best kept in the zip pocket on top and meshes at the bottom allow water and dirt to drain off quickly. The bag is made of sturdy polyamide 6.6 and is internally PU-coated, odorless and without plasticizer. The spare tire backpack is ideal extra storage space with a large footprint. Especially with smaller 4x4s that is very valuable. If 80 l are too much you should take a look at the medium version with 47 l. Delivery is without the illustrated accessories. Sleeping out under the open sky
Come nightfall on an overlanding trip, you can sleep in the vehicle, of course, in a tent, or up in one of our Roof Lodge roof tents. We put our roof tents together in-house, and they come in a range of sizes. The fold-out tents are a real draw for families planning to stay put somewhere for a while. And our Lightweight is just the ticket for anyone short on roof load to play with.

Warm through cold nights
And if you're out in winter, we'll make sure you're not left shivering. For a permanent install, there are parking heaters as a complete kit, with a warm shower connection on request, so you can rinse off with hot water even when it's below freezing. Anyone who'd rather stay flexible goes for a mobile heating unit, which warms your roof tent up nice and cosy. And if you sleep in the 4x4 and use our ventilation panels for airflow, we'll make up the matching connector for the heater while we're at it. Fitting the vent plates comes as its own installation service.

Nakatanenga Evolution 270° awning, incl. two side panels, stone-grey On long journeys, camping holidays or a quick trip to the lake, the 270° roof awning from Roof Lodge turns every Landy, T5 & Co into a practical and, above all, quickly opened camp. Once you have found the perfect spot for the night or even the whole holiday, the awning fans out in no time at all from the left-hand side of the vehicle to far behind the rear of the vehicle, is then supported by four aluminium telescopic poles and tensioned with the ropes. With the help of flexible side wall tarpaulins that can be quickly attached, an optimal combination of weather protection and openness can be created. Two side panels are included. This creates an adaptable, dry, wind-protected and shaded area for cooking, eating, working and relaxing. The material of the awning is high-quality, PU-coated RipStop polycotton, a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The functional fabric is extremely tear-resistant, water- and dirt-repellent and, due to its relatively high weight of 280 g/m2, also produces significantly less fluttering noise in the wind. Our Roof Lodge awning, which weighs 16.8 kg (incl. side panels), can be mounted on the right and left of the vehicle's roof rack, making it ideal for covering crucial areas such as the driver's, passenger's, side and rear doors, depending on the vehicle model and size. The awning measures 4.35m in total length and covers 4.1m at the side and 2m at the rear (see drawing in the product images). The area of the awning covers approx. 9 sqm ². The awning is secured at the rear with the included tensioning strap. A 25 mm wide nylon strap guarantees stable lashing even with the most varied vehicle/roof rack configurations. Showers and the smallest room
After a hard day on the trail, an outdoor shower before bed is worth its weight in gold, one of overlanding's quiet luxuries. Our Shower Tube mounts to the CargoBear roof rack and lets the sun warm the water, so what comes out is always pleasantly warm. Fresh water for the road travels best in a water canister. Anyone travelling as a group might add a matching shower tent to keep a bit of privacy. Oh, and for those who'd sooner use a loo than march into the woods with a shovel, we stock the Koma.land poop box. Mind you, a shovel's never a bad thing to have along either.

Recovery gear, for when it gets serious
Once you're kitted up the next morning and you've had that steaming coffee with the best view going, it's time to give your recovery gear one more once-over. Everything there and within reach, in case today's the day it gets serious? Our Maximum Traction boards come with a bag too, if you'd rather not stow them on the outside of the 4x4. And those pull straps are dead handy, the ones that let you haul the boards back out of the mud without a fight.

Winches and winch bumpers we keep mainly for the Land Rover drivers. But even without a winch, our recovery gear department has everything you need. The stretchy Bearope kinetic recovery rope, say, or soft shackles. We've got recovery eyes as well, the kind you bolt onto your off-road vehicle. Dirty recovery ropes go best in our mesh bag, where they're protected and can dry off a little if they've come back damp.

Nakatanenga Soft Shackle 10 mm – Breaking Strength 12,000 kg In principle, soft shackles are incredibly low tech: They are simple rope loops with a stopper knot and a fixed noose. The shackle is held together and tightened by the very load it is meant to hold and is easily opened or fastened. Maybe it is the very simplicity of the concept that accounts for some users’ skepticism and lets them stick to steel shackles even when using synthetic rope. But a rope shackle’s advantages are huge: there is hardly any risks for injury, very little weight, no tools necessary, no corrosion, no scratching or denting of vehicle or equipment parts und no bending or jamming under load. As with all synthetic ropes, extra caution should be taken to avoid friction damage, fraying, heat and contact with chemicals. The rope shackles are available in grey and orange. Plastic sand ladder - starting aids for up to 3.5 tons Stuck? No problem! Our sturdy plastic recovery boards will reliably get you out of any predicament. Whether it's deep sand, nasty mud, or snow, with Maximum Traction recovery aids, you're guaranteed to get your car out again. The boards have recessed handles on the sides, making them easy to carry. Of course, it's better to get our matching carrying straps right away. That way, you'll have your hands free if you ever have to go up or down a steep slope. Why we recommend plastic instead of aluminum:* Super light: Aluminum sand plates are significantly heavier. Less weight on the boards means more payload for everything else that's important.* Low noise: No annoying rattling while driving – anything that rattles metallically while driving just makes you nervous.* Flexible: Minimal deformation under load and hardly any wear even after intensive testing* Affordable: Plastic recovery boards are significantly cheaper than conventional aluminum sand platesTechnical data:* For vehicles up to 3.5 tons* Dimensions approx. 1070 x 310 x 100 mm* Weight 6 kg* Supplied in pairs Please do not use these sand plates: on hard, stony terrain, as a bridge or ramp, below temperatures of -20° Celsius

Wheels, tyres and water crossings
Hopefully you're already sorted with the right tyres and a decent set of off-road rims. If not, we also do complete wheels with the right wheel and tyre combination for your 4x4. They're available for the Defender, the New Defender and the Jimny, as well as the Ineos Grenadier. When you have to drop tyre pressure in serious terrain, it pays to carry a compressor on board to pump back up afterwards. And if you're planning water crossings, here's hoping you've already fitted a snorkel.

Light and safety out there
Now and then on an overlanding trip, you don't make it back to camp before dark. That's when spotlights keep things clear, whether as driving lights out on the open road or work lights back at camp. And since a recovery, or cutting firewood, can get a bit dicey at times, we keep our handy first aid pouches in the range too. Hang them off the MOLLE panels, or stick the large Velcro patch on the back to anything that'll take it.
With this first aid bag / multi-purpose bag, you are also equipped for emergencies when travelling. You can attach the bag to various carriers, organisers, panels or rucksacks with the MOLLE system. This pouch can also be used as a small multi-purpose pouch thanks to its neutral black colour. The Velcro base plate is already included in the scope of delivery. What is Molle? Information can be found under documents. There is a Molle system on the outer surface so that you can either attach another small pouch to it or attach small non-slip items, such as emergency scissors. There is also a Molle system on the back of the base plate. This allows the bag to be easily attached to our tactical rucksack, for example. Pouch dimensions WxHxD: 12x15x4.5 cm Base plate dimensions WxH: 13x17 cm Scope of delivery: First aid bag / multi-purpose bag Base plate / Tear Off Base Material: 100% nylon And by the way: at Nakatanenga, we only use materials with a 100% nylon PU coating for all textile items. In contrast to PVC, nylon PU (polyurethane) is free from harmful phthalate-based plasticisers. Until recently, low-molecular phthalates were the most common plasticisers for plastics of all kinds and are even used in food and cosmetics. However, they accumulate in the environment and are suspected of acting like endogenous hormones due to their molecular nature. This is highly questionable from a toxicological point of view and is considered a trigger for various diseases, including cancer. For Nakatanenga, it is therefore a matter of course to use only ecologically and health-friendly alternatives such as nylon PU when coating textile products. Our large first aid bag (with or without contents) is still available here.

Nevertheless, it is still suitable for use in dusty or sandy environments. The key factor is proper and careful handling. To minimize the intake of dust and fine particles, the compressor should, whenever possible, not be operated or placed directly on the ground in such situations. It is recommended to use it in an elevated position away from the ground, for example inside the vehicle, on the cargo area, or held by the handle. Even during off-road operations in dust-intensive environments, such as desert crossings, the compressor is a good choice. For particularly intensive or continuous use under such conditions, a model with an integrated or attachable air filter may also be of interest, depending on the requirements. Suitable alternatives from our product range include, for example: VIAIR 400P-A portable 12V compressor with automatic shut-off VIAIR 450P-A portable compressor with automatic shut-off We would also be happy to advise you personally when selecting a compressor that best suits your intended use.
