The foldable pruning saws by Spanish manufacturer Bellota are made in the Japanese tradition and feature a 7” (ca 18 cm) curved laminated steel blade and a triple-edge saw tooth design guaranteeing easy, quick and precise cutting. Precisely what you want for pruning your trees in the garden or for outdoor activities and bushcraft.
When folded into the ergonomically shaped soft-touch handle, the tool is only about 23 cm long, with a width of 5.5 cm and a depth of 2.5 cm. The requirements are fairly simple: the tools need to be versatile, durable and safe. They need to cut well and should weigh as little as possible. And since axes and hatchets are among mankind’s oldest tools, the most ergonomic and efficient designs are very often the oldest ones. This handy axe by Spanish manufacturer Bellota is made in the tradition of the Biscayne trade axes, a very old, traditional design from the Basque region that has made its biggest impact during the colonization of North America. The Biscayne style features a straight top of the axe head, a short blade and a slightly rounded edge. The head is forged from a single piece of steel, making it very long-lived and virtually indestructible. The straight handle is 38cm or 60cm long and has a conic joint connection with the head – guaranteeing a great degree of safety and it also prevents the axe head from loosening due to impact forces or physical influences like changes in temperature or moisture of the wood. Bellota’s Biscayne axe is great for chopping firewood, trimming branches or felling thin trees. An axe for all situations, at home or in the bush. A volume of up to 863 liters will fit into the back of your Jimny GJ. Sounds like a lot for the size S hardcore off-roader. But wait: how much of it can you actually use? Only rarely will you load big items in one piece – let’s say a fridge for example – into the cargo space of the little 4x4 and that’s the problem. The Jimny is mostly a specialized working vehicle for farmers, forest workers and hunters. That means, there’s always lots of tools, fuels, lubricants, equipment, feed bags and dirty clothes that you don’t want to pile up on the small surface area of the cargo hold. Add animals – dead and alive – to the mix and you get the picture.Once we’ve spotted this particular problem, we immediately set to work on it and are now offering a mini-version of our CargoBear system specifically for the back of the Jimny GJ/HJ. This rack effectively partitions the narrow but high cargo space and lets you load many more items much more effectively.
