Diesel replacement pump for Land Rover Defender Td5 w. Installation kit The problem of the susceptible diesel pump on the TD5 is well known: Even comparatively minor contamination can cause the diesel pump to fail. Annoyingly, the original pump is located in the tank, which means that you first have to remove the tank to access the diesel pump.Our replacement diesel pump is not installed in the tank but outside, which makes it easy to access and it also has a replaceable filter. This can be easily replaced in the event of contamination. The pump is located outside the tank and is looped into the line. The fine filter mounted on the suction side gets all dirt and grime out of the diesel base and is easy and inexpensive to replace (see replacement filter). The original pump must be removed and replaced with a suction hose. The pump housing with tank sensor, however, remains.The pump works with any tank or auxiliary tank. Since the pump also has suction power, it does not have to be installed at the lowest point. The connection is made via LR quick-release couplings or optionally via normal diesel hoses. The pump is installed outside the tank in a protected place. On the Defender 110, for example, above the rear axle on the chassis beam.
