The skylights

Tents of the series Roof Lodge Evolution 2 are equipped in addition to the large side windows with two skylights, which of course can also be closed, ie darkened - after all, not everyone wants to wake up on vacation together with the little birds. However, these windows can also be used specifically to control the interior climate of the tent. The heated and humid interior air can ventilate much better through these skylights than through the side windows. Thus, even in stormy weather, there is noticeably less draft inside the tent than with the side windows open. Like the main windows, the roof windows are of course also equipped with mosquito nets. Plenty of fresh air, unobstructed view of the stars - but the pesky critters stay nicely outside. The picture above was taken in a Lightweight around noon. The bright rectangle that appears behind the skylight of the tent is the PVC clear window of the awning. The bottom photo, on the other hand, was taken in an Evolution II, whose tent fabric is almost lightproof. That's why you can hardly see the skylight shining through here, even with backlighting.

Inserted explanations

Humidity ...: Colloquially, it is said that cooler air can hold or absorb less moisture. In reality, air per se cannot hold or absorb moisture at all; in fact, it simply takes no notice of it. Rather, it is always a balance between the amount of liquid and the amount of liquid that is in the gas phase. And this equilibrium is temperature dependent. At low temperatures, it is shifted more toward the liquid, while as the temperature rises, it shifts more and more toward the gas phase.
... and sleeping climate: How does humidity affect the sleeping climate? An adult sweats and exhales several 100 milliliters every night. On average, we can talk about 1,600 liters of water vapor (sic). Now this sounds like an almost unbelievable value, but we are talking about water vapor here. The stated amount corresponds to approximately one liter of water.
What happens to a water vapor volume of 1,600 liters in a room that has a volume of rounded 0.5 (l x w x h) = 0.5 x (14dm x 12dm x 11dm) = 924dm³ ⁓ 1000 liters?

The easiest way to get this moisture out of the tent is while it is in the vapor phase. You simply let it vent off. This happens most effectively if you provide it with a way to do so where it is moving anyway: a window in the tent roof.
The temperature-dependent volume of water vapor above the available volume of space (tent) will inevitably condense (see above).
Some of this moisture will already condense in or on the sleeping bag or blanket (equilibrium reaction!), which is not exactly conducive to a comfortable and healthy sleeping environment.
The be-all and end-all for a good sleeping climate is always to remove the excess moisture from the sleeping space - in other words, to VENTILATE!

Vapor phase: This is another term for the gaseous state of aggregation:
solid ⇄ liquid ⇄ gaseous (the vapor phase).
It should be noted that ice, water and vapor are always the same thing, namely a collection of H₂O molecules that differ in their average kinetic energy (see above).

Although the PVC films used are characterized by high UV and weather resistance, it is important to note the following:

Use only soft cloths and plenty of water for cleaning. Using abrasive or scratching cleaners or cloths will blind the film. The same applies to removing dust with too little water and using the wrong cleaner!
Special care products for PVC films are available in specialized shops. These replenish the plasticizers that have escaped from the PVC, allowing the material to retain its flexibility for many years.
