The Roof Lodges Knoff-Hoffs
In this section we have summarized elements and accessories that not only make traveling with the roof tent easier and more comfortable, but are also included with the tents.
To mention here would be:
- the curved poles (see above)
- the mattress pad made of spacer fabric (see above)
- the telescopic pole of the extended element
- the folding joints of the extended element
- the compensating feet of the roof tent ladder
- the underfloor stowage net
The telescopic pole of the extended element is located in two pockets on the front side of the extended model. This pole should not be stretched to the extreme, otherwise the fabric will be stretched and rainwater could possibly enter the ground tent. It is sufficient if the telescopic pole is loose in the pockets.
The reason for this pole is simple: the entire extended element is tensioned at the two bottom corners to prevent the extended element from collapsing. At the same time, this causes two straps to tension the awning. A middle third strap exerts tension on the awning only when the ground tent is mounted. With tents of similar construction, that's it. With such tents it can now happen that the sun awning, because it is only properly tensioned at the corners, sags. When it rains, water can collect on the awning, which pulls the awning down even further, causing even more water to collect, and so on.
In Roof Lodge Extended tents, the extended pole for the third strap serves as a stable abutment. In this way, the awning is targeted for tensioning in the neuralgic area, eliminating the formation of a water pocket when used properly.
The folding joints of the extended frame simplify the setting up of the roof tent (extended) immensely, since the frame, which extends the extended element, does not have to be mounted underneath the still hanging fabric on the plate joints, but remains firmly mounted there during transport. Simply unfold the bracket and you're done.
Folding is also simplified because the bracket no longer has to be pushed into the interior of the tent, where it likes to impale itself in the mattress, mattress cover or tent skin. All that is needed is to fold the bracket in and place it against the tent. If the tent is now folded, the bracket is placed in the folds of the fabric and is safely stowed.
The compensating feet of the roof tent ladder do exactly what you would expect - they compensate for differences in height of the ground. As a result, the ladder is always secure and straight and cannot twist, which would put a lot of stress on the ladder brackets. In addition, the contact surface of the plate feet is rubberized, which provides a secure grip even on slippery surfaces, such as some types of concrete.
Transported, these leveling feet come in an included storage bag.
The underfloor storage net is made of tear-resistant polyamide 6.6 and has the dimensions 65x65cm. Also included are 4 webbing staples for attaching to the floor panel of the roof tent. It serves for practical storage of all the things that you do not necessarily want to have in the tent - shoes, wet or dirty clothes, etc..
